The Dalkey Archive | Visual Book

As a novel of self-growth, I decided to recreate "The Dalkey Archive" as an evidences' collection about the development of the main character's self-awareness. The novel is bound as a manuscript (made of waste paper, such as old engravings and maps) in order to suggest that the protagonist wrote himself the story in the last stage of his growth, with the purpose of putting together the pieces.
The paper evidences (which are strictly related to the story) are symbols of circumstances in which he behaved negligently and naïvely.
On the contrary, the pictures (all by Francis Bacon) represent situations of progress and are related to the novel's themes.
Indeed, while the first ones are unconnected and disorganized, the second ones can actually be used as pieces of a puzzle and recreate the original engraving of an Irish city.
